Repair

What the job involves.

Not every roof with a problem needs replacing, and a repair is often the right answer. We work on both commercial and residential roofs, and the first job on a repair call is finding out what is actually leaking rather than what looks worst.

Water rarely enters where it appears. It runs down the underside of the decking and along a rafter before it finds a spot to drip, so a stain in the middle of a ceiling can come from a penetration several feet uphill. Pipe boots are the usual culprit on a North Texas roof: the rubber collar around a plumbing vent dries, cracks and lets water straight down the pipe, and they are the cheapest repair on a roof.

How It Works

01

Free inspection

Call and we set up a detailed inspection with a certified hail, wind and storm inspector. It costs nothing whether or not there is a claim in it.

02

File the claim

If we find damage, you sign our contract for us to work with your insurer, then you file. Send us the adjuster details and we set up the appointment.

03

Meet the adjuster on the roof

We are there to represent you. Afterwards the insurer sends you paperwork, and you forward it to us before signing so the scope can be checked.

04

Install and final inspection

Colors chosen, old roof off and disposed of, new system and ventilation on, the site swept, and a final inspection to close it out.

The Difference

Where these jobs go wrong.

After that come the flashings. Anywhere the roof meets something that is not roof, a wall, a chimney, a skylight, a valley, there is a piece of metal doing the waterproofing, and those are the points that fail. Blown or lifted shingles after a wind event are the third common call, and those show up as a bare patch or a line of shingles standing proud of the course below.

A repair that keeps coming back is a signal rather than a nuisance. Where a roof has reached the end and is failing in several places at once we will tell you that a repair is money spent twice.

Before You Call

Repair, answered.

How fast can you look at a leak?

Call the office and we will get you on the schedule. During storm season the whole trade in North Texas runs booked out, and we would rather give you a real date than a flattering one. If water is coming in now, say so on the call.

Is a repair worth it on an old roof?

Sometimes not. A roof in its last few years that is failing in more than one place will keep failing, and repairs on it are money you spend twice. We will tell you where yours sits.

Will the repair match the rest of the roof?

Close, rarely exact. Weathered shingle has lost granules and faded, and new shingle out of the bundle has not. On a visible slope that difference is worth knowing about before the work rather than after.

Can a repair be covered by insurance?

Where the cause is a covered event such as hail or wind, yes. Where it is age, wear or a failed sealant, no. That distinction is the first thing an inspection settles.

Do you repair commercial flat roofs?

Yes. Low-slope repair is a different job from shingle work, and it is covered on the flat roofing page.

Repair

Every one of these starts with somebody standing on the roof.

Let's work together

Let us look at the roof.

We come out, walk the slopes, photograph what is up there and tell you whether it needs anything. No charge, hired or not.
