What the job involves.

There are several applications for low-slope roof systems, and the right one depends on what the deck has to do. Built-up roofing is the oldest and most reliable. Modified bitumen has superior waterproofing characteristics. EPDM is a very stable membrane that withstands and resists any type of nature-born stress. TPO and PVC have excellent weathering characteristics and are highly resistant to ultraviolet light and chemicals.

The class of commercial roofing membranes described as single-ply are flexible sheets of compounded synthetic materials, manufactured in a factory to strict quality control requirements. Single ply roof systems provide strength, flexibility and long-lasting durability.

How It Works

01

Free inspection

Call and we set up a detailed inspection with a certified hail, wind and storm inspector. It costs nothing whether or not there is a claim in it.

02

File the claim

If we find damage, you sign our contract for us to work with your insurer, then you file. Send us the adjuster details and we set up the appointment.

03

Meet the adjuster on the roof

We are there to represent you. Afterwards the insurer sends you paperwork, and you forward it to us before signing so the scope can be checked.

04

Install and final inspection

Colors chosen, old roof off and disposed of, new system and ventilation on, the site swept, and a final inspection to close it out.

The Difference

Where these jobs go wrong.

The advantage of a pre-fabricated sheet is consistency. The quality of the product is set in the factory rather than on the roof, and the versatility in attachment methods is what makes the same membrane work on a warehouse, a strip center and a residential addition.

Low-slope failure looks different from shingle failure. It is standing water that will not drain, seams that have opened, and flashing at the parapet or the curb that has lifted. None of it is visible from the ground, which is why a low-slope roof needs somebody on it on a schedule rather than after a leak.

Before You Call

Flat Roofs, answered.

How long does a flat roof last?

It depends on the system and on the drainage. A well drained single-ply membrane runs 20 to 30 years; the same membrane with ponding water on it does not. Drainage is the variable that decides the number.

Why is water standing on my roof?

Either the deck has deflected, the drains or scuppers are blocked, or the original slope was never enough. Water that is still there 48 hours after rain is the definition of ponding and it is worth fixing rather than living with.

Can a flat roof be repaired or does it need replacing?

Seams, flashings and penetrations are repairable, and most low-slope leaks are at one of those three. A membrane that has gone brittle across the whole field is a replacement.

Which system should I choose?

It comes down to the roof traffic, the chemical exposure, the ultraviolet exposure and the budget. A restaurant with kitchen exhaust grease on the roof wants a different membrane from a warehouse.

Do you work on residential flat sections?

Yes. Additions, porches and mid-century homes with low-slope sections are common in Fort Worth and they are the sections that usually leak first.

Every one of these starts with somebody standing on the roof.
